ASEPA's Petition Against Jean Mensah Dismissed By Presidency

The petition filed by the pressure group Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) has been dismissed by the Presidency. 

The response of the petition is said to have been sent to the Facebook page of ASEPA's Executive Director, Thompson Mensah,on Thursday, August 13,2020. 

ASEPA had petitioned Jubilee House on June 9,2020 for the removal of the chair of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC),Jean Mensa,for failing to declare her assets in accordance with Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution. 

But after weeks of lull,the pressure group wrote to the Chief Justice,Kwasi Anin Yeboah,seeking to know whether the Presidency has forwarded the petition to his outfit for action. 

On Monday, August 10, the Judicial Secretary, Justice Cynthia Pamela Addo,wrote back to ASEPA conforming receipt of the petition and the action taken thereof. 

"I am directed by His Lordship the Chief Justice to inform you that he acted on the petition and submitted his response to the Presidency on July 15,2020."

On Thursday,the Presidency in a letter signed by the Executive Secretary of the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo,dismissed the petition. 

"I am directed by the President to inform you that your petition has been dismissed."
