The President of Ghana was set to give the 19th Update on measures taken to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus I'm the county.
In the 18th update,the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwar Akufo Addo indicated that the number of recorded active cases,that is persons with the virus,was in decline,with the statistics of pointing to the fact that "we were on the path towards defeating the virus".
Below Is A Summary Of The 19th Address
1. Active cases has increased from 398,3 weeks ago, to 1,139 with 320 deaths as of Friday,November 6,2020.
2. The number of infections is on the rise from an average of 25 new cases per day to an average of 130 new cases per day,in the last two weeks.
3. All districts with the exception of two in Greater Accra have reported cases. In contrast, there is a cluster of cases in the other regions from only a handful of districts.
4. An analysis of the active case data suggests that the Greater Accra Region accounts for some 75%,with Ashanti, Bono,Eastern and Western being responsible for 16% of active cases. The remaining 11 Regions make up 4% of the cases with arrivals at Kotoka Airport being 5%.
5. Government to enhance the measures of tracing, testing and treatment.
6. Government has instructed the release of additional logistics,including vehicles, to the Ghana Health Service in order to beef IP contact tracing and the supervision of asymptomatic cases being managed from home.
7. Government employing the use of technology to augment our contact tracing efforts,as well as the supervision and monitoring of home care cases.
8. There has been 172 positive cases out of 54,000 tests at the Kotola International Airport which passengers are still subjected to 72-hour negative PCR tests.
9. Ministry of Health,through the Ghana Health Service is to liaise with all laboratories and testing facilities across the country to ensure that reporting procedures are ironed out and adhered to,under the directive of the President.
10. The 100-bed Ghana infectious Disease Centre,located at the Game East Hospital, will be opened in the next few days,under the management of the Ghana Health Service.
11. Government has extended the policy of free access to water for all households across the country until December, as well as fully absorbing electricity bills for one million active lifeline customers for the same period.
12. Incentive package has been extended to the end of the year ie. No income tax from health workers from November to December.
13. All frontline health workers will continue to receive the additional allowance of 50% of their basic salary per month,for the months of October November and December.
14. A survey by the Ghana Health Service shows the compliance rate with mast wearing has reduced from 44.3% to 5%.
The President appealed to all Ghanaians to adhere to the personal hygiene,mask wearing and social distancing measures.
