Just In: NDC Wins The Sene West Parliamentary Seat

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has won the Sene West Parliamentary elections after the counting of votes in a snatched ballot box by the Electoral Commission (EC).

The counting was done after the Wenchi High Court in the Bono Region dismissed a case brought by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) seeking to contest the Sene West Constituency’s Parliamentary elections.

The party’s candidate, Joseph Markay Kuma, sought an injunction against the election results over claims of irregularities with the electoral process although collation of results had not taken place.

But in court on Thursday morning, the Presiding Judge, His Lordship Justice Frederick Nawura, struck out the NPP’s case and directed that the Electoral Commission be allowed to do its work.

The lead lawyers for the NPP were Nana Sekyere Boateng and Nana Obiri Boahen whiles NDC was represented by Kojoga Adawudu and Ofosu Agyare.

This paved way for the EC to go and count the votes in a disputed ballot box. The NPP garnered 148 votes while the NDC gained 275 votes with the NDP recording just a single vote.

In the final results, the NPP obtained 13,100 votes while the NDC garnered 13,116 votes,

The NDC Candidate, Ampofo Twumasi has therefore been declared the winner.
