Louche Scenes At The End Of Ghana's 7th Parliament ,Why and How It All Started [Watch Videos]

The 7th Parliament of Ghana was to be dissolved and a new speaker elected ,at the night of January 6,2021 before the inauguration of it's 8th legislators, but did not look like what Ghanaians expected .

Footage from the floor of Parliament since January 6 at night through to the dawn of January 7th where the speaker of Parliament was to be sworn in showed opprobrious behaviors of some 'Honourable' Members of Parliament.

The results from the polls in Parliament showed that Alban Bagbin of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won over the New Patriotic Party's Prof. Mike Oquaye who was the Speaker for the 7th Parliament of the 4th Republic.

Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, the Member of Parliament for the Team West Constituency snatched ballot papers from the hands of the Parliamentary official when the ballots was being counted. This happened few minutes after he was seen speaking closely to the Majority leader of the 7th Parliament and MP for Shame Constituency Hon. Osei Kyeu Mensah Bonsu.

Mr. Ahenkorah snatched the papers after the conversation, and in a 'Rambo style' flee from that side. He was then nabbed by some other officials including the MP for the Asawase Constituency Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, who gave Mr. Ahenkorah some unforgettable knocks in the head.

"I did that for NPP and Nana Akufo Addo", Carlos said after apologising for his wrong doings.

This even had happened several hours after the NPP and it's Opposition ,NDC had a feud about who is to sit at the right hand side of the Speaker. This sparked controversy in the house and military men were sent to calm the crowd. It was observed by this portal that the military persons were hooted at,and sent out of the house by the National Democratic Congress Legislators as they described the military invasion as " useless ".

This followed up to another feud between Ursula Owusu-Ekuful the MP for Ablekuma West Constituency,a member of the NPP,and other members of the opposition,NDC for "sitting on the wrong side of the house".

Madam Ursula was seen sitting on the lap of the Juaboso MP,Kwabena Mintah Akandoh for claiming he took her space after she left for the washroom.

Prior to this, she occupied Cletus Avoka's seat after the Zebilla East MP had vacated it to visit the washroom. She was eventually forced off the seat as one of the NDC MPs pulled the chair. This stoked a scuffle as her colleague Hawa Koomson joined the altercation.

The NPP in ensuring that it's MPs vote for the Party's nominee(Prof. Mike Oquaye) directed to then to show their ballot sheets to the Chief Whip before placing them in the ballot box, a situation the NDC protested on the grounds that it was not in line with the Standing Orders of Parliament. The MP for Asawase, Muntaka was captured directing a punch at Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie,NPP MP for Effiduase Asokore. Meanwhile NDC MP for Yapei -Kusawgu was also sighted kicking the ballot boxes engendering pandemonium and disruption of the voting process.

An Parliamentary official was also seen walking towards the ballot box to allegedly to put something into it. There existed a direct and opposite force from the sides where he stood to prevent him from doing that.

The official was probed in an official statement released today,January 2021,which says they he was just supposed to paste a note on the ballot box to calm anxieties in the house.
