The wearing of smock, which has always been the tradition of the people in the Northern part of Ghana, has been banned in the Bawku land until further notice.
This was stipulated in a letter dreaded by the Bawku Municipal Assembly, with reasons that criminals hide guns and other ammunitions in their smocks which makes no one realize what they have on them.
“Following the decision taken by REGSEC during the emergency meeting, the wearing of smock in Bawku Township has been banned with immediate effect.
This was necessitated by the fact that criminals or unscrupulous elements hide arms and ammunitions in smocks and attack opponents or innocent civilians
2. All persons living in Bawku Township are to take note of the directive and comply until further notice.
